WhatsApp Beta Update Brings Profile QR Codes to Let You Add Contacts Easily

WhatsApp is all set to introduce a Snapchat-like feature that will now make it easier for users to add new contacts just by scanning a QR code. The QR code feature, which is assumed to have been in development for quite some time, will be rolled out to both iOS and Android devices. And will offer a unique QR code to every user to help add contacts easily.

WhatsApp has just submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.20.171. In the recent few updates we didn’t see so many new features, but today we’ve good news.

What’s new in this update? Discover all details below!

  • The support for QR Codes is actually available through a server-side update for the 2.20.171 version. This feature was under development and finally WhatsApp has decided to release it for beta testers today!
  • If you don’t see the update on the Play Store, please be patient until Google will roll out for you.

WhatsApp has recently enabled the support for QR codes in the latest iOS beta updates on TestFlight and today WhatsApp is officially rolling out the feature for all Android beta testers too.
Features on both platforms were implemented in the same way. Practically you can discover your personal QR Code visiting WhatsApp Settings. If you see a QR Code, the feature is already available for you!

The feature is available today for all Android beta users once updating to the 2.20.171 version. The most updated version helps to get it quickly.
If you didn’t receive the feature yet, don’t worry.WhatsApp is continuing to roll out the feature and it will be available for everyone in the next few days.

As for the public launch of the QR code feature, there is no word on when might this feature roll out in the stable build. WhatsApp has had an erratic history with beta features. And while some features have made it to the stable builds quite swiftly, others, such as the much-hyped Dark Mode, took rather look to come out of beta. Reports further suggest that the QR code scanning feature of WhatsApp may also allude to the multi-device account support. That is expected soon, which may also be coming soon.
